Mpuga was found guilty of soliciting UGX 20 million from an applicant seeking the position of Agricultural Officer in Rakai District. The conviction followed a plea bargain agreement, under which Mpuga refunded UGX 30 million to the victim as compensation.
As part of the court’s decision, Mpuga is barred from serving in any government position for the next 10 years.
The ruling comes amid intensified investigations by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit into allegations of job sales by District Service Commissions across the country. Recent crackdowns have already led to the arrest of officials in Mpigi and Gomba, with more districts expected to come under scrutiny.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ending corruption in recruitment processes, warning that any public official involved in similar schemes will face severe penalties.
