The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has officially opened nominations for key political positions, including Members of Parliament, LC5 chairpersons, and municipal mayors.
According to the party’s Electoral Commission Chairperson, Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda, the nomination exercise kicked off on Monday, June 16, and will run until Tuesday, June 17, 2025. He noted that the process is being handled by designated district electoral supervisors who have so far shown commendable diligence.

“The nomination of MPs, LC5 chairpersons and municipal mayors started today and is proceeding smoothly at all our designated district offices,” Bamwenda stated during a media briefing.
He further revealed that the overwhelming turnout during the initial nomination window for councillors and sub-county chairpersons forced the Commission to push those activities to June 17, allowing for better coordination.
The FDC has also released a full schedule for the internal elections, including a consensus-building and vetting phase from June 18 to July 1, followed by party primaries across all levels from July 2 to July 12.
Aspiring candidates are required to pay nomination fees: Shs100,000 for Members of Parliament, Shs50,000 for district chairpersons, and Shs20,000 for municipal and sub-county mayors. No fees are required for councillors at any level.
Bamwenda cautioned district supervisors against accepting hard cash payments and urged full compliance with the party’s electoral guidelines. He also confirmed that nominations for special interest groups including youth, elders, and persons with disabilities were completed earlier this month under the national electoral commission’s schedule.
