On May 26, 2025, the High Court nullified Nalukoola’s election, citing fundamental irregularities in his nomination and the by-election process. Despite this ruling in her favor, Nambi expressed disappointment that the court did not award her the costs associated with the legal battle.

“The court acknowledged the irregularities that compromised the electoral process,” Nambi stated during a press briefing at Fairway Hotel in Kampala. “However, it overlooked the financial and emotional toll this process has taken on me. I intend to petition the court to reconsider and grant the compensation I rightfully deserve.”

Nambi’s initial petition highlighted several electoral malpractices, including discrepancies in vote tallies and breaches of electoral guidelines. The court’s decision to annul the election results was seen as a significant step towards upholding electoral integrity in the region.

The Electoral Commission has yet to announce a new electoral roadmap for Kawempe North following the court’s decision. The seat became vacant after the death of former MP Muhammad Ssegirinya in January 2025.
