By At least two welders tragically lost their lives following an explosion that occurred around 1:00 p.m. in the Triangle Zone of Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District.
Eyewitness reports indicate that the fatal incident happened while the victims were working on a metal structure. Preliminary findings suggest the explosion may have been triggered by mishandling or improper handling of an unidentified metallic object.
Security forces, including personnel from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), counterterrorism units, and local law enforcement, swiftly secured the area to conduct a thorough investigation. Authorities have urged residents to maintain a safe distance as they assess the scene and gather crucial evidence.
As of press time, the deceased had not yet been formally identified, and their bodies remained at the scene pending further examination.
