Speaking about the latest statistics, Mr. Vianney M. Luggya, the UCAA spokesperson, attributed the March growth to multiple factors including Uganda’s hosting of international conferences, increased tourism promotion, and the expansion of airline services.
“The growth in March 2025 is partly attributed to Uganda’s hosting of international conferences, tourism promotion efforts, and the coming on board of new operators such as Flynas, which commenced direct flights between Riyadh and Entebbe in January 2025, along with Uganda Airlines’ sustained operations on new routes,” said Mr. Luggya.
While the first quarter of 2025 has seen mixed traffic trends, January 2025 stands out as a record month, registering 216,740 international passengers, making it the second-highest monthly traffic in the airport’s history.

In addition to passenger growth, cargo operations remained strong, with Entebbe International Airport handling a total of 5,852 metric tonnes in March 2025. This included 1,965 metric tonnes of imports and 3,887 metric tonnes of exports.
“Exports continue to exceed imports, which is a good sign for the country’s economy. It enhances foreign exchange earnings and supports Uganda’s trade balance,” Mr. Luggya added.
The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority continues to project a positive outlook for both passenger and cargo traffic as Uganda’s aviation sector expands its regional and international footprint.
