Entebbe International Airport has recorded its highest-ever monthly passenger traffic, handling 230,577 travelers in July 2025, the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has announced.
The figure surpasses the previous record of 222,301 passengers set in December 2024. Statistics show that 119,127 people arrived through the airport last month, while 111,450 departed, averaging 7,437 passengers per day. Arrivals outpaced departures, indicating increased inbound activity.

According to UCAA, the surge was partly driven by delegations arriving for the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024), heightened tourism promotion campaigns, international conferences, and improved airline connectivity.
“This milestone reflects the growing role of Entebbe as a regional aviation hub and the effectiveness of government and private sector efforts to boost Uganda’s attractiveness for business and leisure travel,” UCAA officials noted.
The airport also registered significant cargo traffic, with 5,863 metric tonnes handled in July. Of this, 3,961 tonnes were exports, while 1,902 tonnes were imports.
Industry experts say the growth is a sign of post-pandemic recovery and increasing global confidence in Uganda as a destination. With further expansion works at Entebbe International Airport nearing completion, the facility is expected to handle even larger volumes in the coming years.
