Police in Greater Masaka Region have arrested several teachers and examination officials over incidents of malpractice during the ongoing 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
According to a statement issued by Regional Police Spokesperson SP Kasirye Twaaha, the cases were registered across four districts Masaka, Rakai, Kyotera, and Masaka City on November 3, 2025.
In Masaka District, eight teachers were arrested at St. Kizito Butenzi Primary School for allegedly helping candidates during the Social Studies paper. The suspects were identified as Ngobya Jackson, Kavuma Ashiraf, Juuko Misaaki, Kyusa Ronald, Mubiru Isma, Ssempijja Michael, Turyasingura Adam, and Waiswa Sharif.
Police said the teachers were caught red-handed writing answers and coaching pupils. Evidence was collected at the scene to aid investigations.

In Rakai District, a suspect identified as Katende Noah was arrested at St. Raphael Mbuye Primary School for impersonating a UNEB scout. Police confirmed that he had no official recognition from the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
In Masaka City’s Kimanya–Kabonera Division, police reported that Mr. Asiimwe Robert is on the run after allegedly attempting to bribe a UNEB monitor to influence the examination process.
Meanwhile, in Kyotera District, six UNEB officials were arrested at Kyotera Central Primary School after a candidate was found with a paper containing answers to the Social Studies examination during a surprise inspection.
Those arrested include Mulindwa Sulait, Nansango Sylvia, Nasamula Annet, Ssekitoleko Gonzaga, Nakityo Harriet, and Lubega John.
All suspects are in custody as investigations continue.
SP Kasirye emphasized that police, working closely with UNEB, are determined to uphold the integrity of national examinations and warned all parties involved in the process to avoid malpractice.
“We caution all stakeholders to desist from any acts that compromise the credibility of the examination process,” he stated.
