The Electoral Commission (EC) has begun a major nationwide recruitment drive to hire more than 50,000 temporary workers who will operate and train others on the Biometric Voter Verification (BVV) system ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
Speaking on Wednesday, EC spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi said the Commission has advertised positions for biometric voter verification kit operators and trainers who will support the rollout and management of the electronic verification machines at polling stations.

The Commission plans to deploy one Biometric Voter Verification operator at each of the over 50,000 polling stations, and three trainers in each of the more than 1,000 counties across the country.
Mucunguzi explained that the new system will require every voter to be biometrically verified before receiving a ballot paper. He said the measure is designed to strengthen the integrity of the electoral process by ensuring that only registered voters cast ballots at their designated polling stations.
“The purpose of the biometric verification machines is to enhance the integrity and credibility of elections by preventing multiple voting and ensuring the principle of one man, one woman, one vote is achieved 100%,” he said.
Applicants for the Biometric Voter Verification operator positions must have a minimum of an A-Level certificate, while those seeking to serve as trainers must hold at least a diploma. Interested candidates have been urged to visit the EC website, review the full requirements, and submit applications through district EC offices in all 146 districts and cities.
