He congratulated all aspirants who were successfully nominated to contest for parliamentary seats and expressed appreciation to various stakeholders for their role in ensuring a lawful and orderly process.
“The Commission would like to thank the security agencies, particularly the police, which is mandated to maintain law and order, for ensuring that the exercise was peaceful,” he added. Muchunguzi also extended gratitude to Electoral Commission staff for conducting the exercise professionally and in accordance with electoral laws.
He reminded candidates that the campaign period has not yet begun, noting that official campaigns will start on November 10, 2025.
“We call upon all those that have been nominated to use this period between now and November 10 to plan and prepare for their campaigns,” Muchunguzi said, urging candidates to maintain the same level of peace and discipline throughout the electoral process.
The two-day nomination exercise, which ran from October 22 to 23, saw thousands of aspirants from political parties and independents successfully cleared to contest for parliamentary seats across the country.
Muchunguzi emphasized that peaceful conduct and respect for the law will remain the defining features of the 2026 elections.
