The Electoral Commission (EC) has cautioned presidential candidates, their agents, and supporters to strictly adhere to the harmonized campaign program as official campaigns begin today across the country.
In a statement issued on Monday, EC spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi said the roadmap, which was agreed upon by all candidates through their representatives, specifies the districts, venues, and dates allocated to each aspirant during the campaign period.

“The Commission believes that if all the candidates, their agents, and supporters respect this harmonized program, we shall not have incidents where there are clashes between and among candidates,” Mucunguzi said.
The Commission further directed that campaigns will run strictly between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., with no activities allowed beyond those hours. Candidates were urged to maintain peace, avoid treating the elections as a “do-or-die affair,” and respect the electoral laws and guidelines issued by authorities.
Mucunguzi also appealed to candidates and their supporters to desist from acts of violence, inflammatory language, and the spread of misinformation or fake news on social media. He emphasized the need for adherence to traffic regulations and cooperation with law enforcement during campaign movements.
“Elections will come and go, but Uganda must remain peaceful, united, and progressing,” Mucunguzi stressed.
The appeal comes as the country braces for intense campaigning ahead of the 2026 general elections, with candidates expected to traverse all regions seeking voter support.
