The accident occurred on December 25, 2025, at about 9:00am and involved a Nissan X-Trail motor vehicle, registration number UBL 565G, and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UGC 985P.
According to Police, the Nissan X-Trail, driven by Nantege Margaret Winfred, was crossing the main highway from the Cathedral side towards Kikawula when it was rammed by the motorcycle, which was travelling from Lugazi heading to Kampala.
The impact knocked the co-driver’s door of the vehicle, seriously injuring the motorcycle rider, identified as Eric Mayanja, a resident of Namungona in Wakiso District.
Mayanja was rushed to Kawolo Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. His condition by press time had not been disclosed.
Both the motor vehicle and the motorcycle have been towed and parked at Lugazi Central Police Station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).
Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Ssezibwa Region Police Spokesperson, SP Hellen Butoto, confirmed the incident and said inquiries are ongoing.
