Busoga royal wedding organizing committee dismisses claims by Opposition leaders over their not attending the royal wedding last weekend. Some opposition leaders allege that they were blocked on orders of the first son and presidential advisor on special operations Gen Muhoozi Keinerugaba who was also an invited guest at the same function.
The National Unity Platform (NUP) party leader Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, is among those claiming to have been blocked from attending the recent Kyabazinga royal wedding, citing frustrations imposed by the regime as the primary reason for his absence.
During a gathering at NUP headquarters in Makerere Kavule, to pray for the leaders, supporters, and families of victims of the November riots, the NUP leader asserted that he was blocked from attending the royal wedding on orders of the regime security, and Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
However, while speaking to journalists at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala Engineer Patrick Batumbya, the committee chairperson, Using the occasion, Batumbya refuted claims noting that presidents of all political parties were invited. He however thanked the people of Busoga and the country at large for the tremendous affection and excitement shown for the historic Royal wedding
“Presidents of all political parties were invited to partake in this joyous occasion. The claims of any exclusion are unfounded. The committee believes that the wedding has not only strengthened the bond within Busoga but has also left an indelible mark on the region’s history,”Batumbya said. “We are hopeful that this historical wedding marks a new beginning for Busoga, evident in the unity witnessed among attendees and those who followed the festivities through various media channels.”
