The case is being handled jointly by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), and the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID).

Kirenga is among a group of suspects that includes high-ranking officials such as Kakooza Jasper, the Acting Commissioner for Surveys and Mapping, and Mugenyi Vicent, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Gomba. At least nine other individuals have also been charged in connection to the case.

Prosecution alleges that on June 15, 2020, Kirenga and his co-accused fraudulently obtained a freehold Certificate of Title for Block 311, Plots 36 and 37 in Gomba District, despite being aware that the land was already titled in the name of the Madhvani Group.

The disputed land, listed under FRV 60 Folio 4, has been a subject of contention amid growing concerns over the illegal creation and duplication of land titles in Uganda.
