Brenda Biya Urges Cameroonians to Reject Her Father’s 2025 Presidential Bid

In an unprecedented move, Brenda Biya, daughter of President Paul Biya, has publicly called on Cameroonians to reject her father’s candidacy in the upcoming October 2025 presidential election. Speaking during a TikTok live session under her alias “King Nasty,” Brenda criticized her father’s nearly 43-year rule, attributing the nation’s ongoing issues of poverty, unemployment, and economic stagnation to his leadership.

This marks the first time in African political history that a sitting president’s child has openly opposed their parent’s rule and actively discouraged voters from supporting them at the ballot box. Brenda’s remarks have sparked widespread discussion and debate both within Cameroon and across the continent.

President Paul Biya, now 92, has been in power since 1982, making him one of the world’s longest-serving leaders. His presidency has been marked by allegations of authoritarianism, corruption, and contested elections. While many view Brenda’s comments as courageous, critics argue that her privileged lifestyle in Europe and strained relations with the Biya family raise questions about how closely her views reflect the realities faced by most Cameroonians.
