By The highly anticipated release of the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results is expected to take place this week, with the announcement set to be made by Education Minister and First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni.
The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has confirmed that it will brief the Minister of Education and Sports on the PLE performance on Tuesday at 2:30 pm at State House Nakasero. Following this meeting, the official release date for the results will be announced.
According to an insider at UNEB, there is a strong indication that the PLE results might be released on Thursday, January 23, 2025, provided all preparations go according to plan. However, UNEB has advised the public to treat this information cautiously until an official confirmation is made.
This year, a total of 798,763 candidates sat for the 2024 PLE, including 419,357 females and 379,414 males. Among them, 3,295 were Special Needs Education (SNE) learners, with females making up 50% (1,677) and males 49.1% (1,618).
The release of the PLE results will mark the first batch of national examination results for 2024. Results for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) are expected to follow in the coming weeks.
As per the Ministry of Education’s academic calendar, placement for PLE candidates is scheduled for January 27-28, 2025, with Senior One classes commencing on February 10, 2025. Similarly, UCE candidates will undergo placement on February 6-7, 2025, and Senior Five classes are set to begin on February 24, 2025.
