Upon arrival at the Kataba trading center, the police established a secure perimeter and evacuated nearby buildings as a precautionary measure. They cordoned off the area, diverting both vehicular and pedestrian traffic to ensure the safety of the public.
At this point, the bomb disposal squad was called in to assess the situation and neutralize the potential threat. Trained experts carefully approached the suspicious ball-like device to examine its composition and determine its level of danger.
“At around 10:30 pm, I was approached by residents about a suspected device abandoned in the Kataba area. We called the police which intervened rapidly and exploded the device,” the area defense secretary, Ramathan Ajaga said.
The remarks made by Makindye division Mayor, Kasirye Mulyanyama, highlight the concern for the growing insecurity and lack of caution in the area. The incident involving the detonation of a planted device in the night is alarming, but thankfully no human casualties were reported.

Encouraging the community to promptly report any suspicious activities or objects is crucial in maintaining the safety and security of the area.
