Stop Demonizing  Fellow Leaders- JEEMA Writes to Bobi Wine Over his Remarks on Anti-Homosexuality Law

In a letter dated 4th December 2023, addressed to the National Unity Platform NUP principal Mr. Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine,  Mr. Muhamad Katerega the  Secretary-General of Justice Forum JEEMA party cautions against demonising fellow opposition party leaders.

The letter comes against the backdrop of Mr. Kyagulanyi’s remarks on the recently signed anti-homosexuality law while appearing on BBC last week

In an interview when pressed about his position on the anti-homosexuality law, Mr. Kyagulanyi said, “I wrote the lyrics and sang them. I took responsibility. Certainly, We grow and transform. I have always mentioned that I am a product of many second chances. I wanna be known as a leader respectful and inclusive of everybody. of course, this is now the same thing. I’m tussling it out with General Museveni who deliberately sponsored the law.”

Didn’t bring it in the interests of the people of Uganda – but to target the opposition. He knows he can use it to crack down on anybody perceived to be friendly to that community.”

Asked why his NUP MPs voted in favor of the law in its entirety, Bobi Wine noted: “Sure, in my party, I have MPs that are working with Gen Museveni.”

In response to his submissions during the interview, JEEMA whose party president Hon Asuman Basalirwa  tabled the motion before parliament described Kyagulanyi as a disappointment to those vying to change guards (struggle) in the country

The letter also calls Kyagulanyi to retract his statements as it reads below
