The operation was carried out in the early hours of Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at about 2:00 a.m., targeting several crime-prone areas within the city.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Rachael Kawala, the operation covered Arua Park, Old Taxi Park, Nakivubo Road, Biwologoma, Nkrumah Road, Punjani, Mukwano Roundabout, and surrounding areas.
“The operation targeted criminal elements who waylay members of the public at identified black spots and engage in various criminal activities,” SP Kawala said.
She noted that the suspects were arrested during a coordinated disruptive operation aimed at restoring public safety and deterring criminal networks operating within the city.
All the suspects are currently being held in police custody and are expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are completed.
SP Kawala said similar operations will continue across Kampala as police intensify efforts to curb crime, especially in high-risk areas and during late-night hours.
Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious activities.
