According to UNEB, the fraudsters falsely claim to be officials attached to the Board’s Security Committee and solicit money in exchange for manipulating examination outcomes or interfering with disciplinary processes.
“The Board does not condone such a vice,” UNEB said, warning heads of centres at all levels to avoid engaging with individuals making such claims.
UNEB stressed that any attempts to influence examination results or investigations into malpractice are illegal and undermine the integrity of the national examinations system.
The Board has urged members of the public and school administrators who encounter such individuals to report the cases to the Police or directly to UNEB through its toll-free lines 0800-111-427 and 0800-211-077.
UNEB further assured whistleblowers that anyone who provides useful information on such fraudulent activities will be protected under the Board’s whistleblower policy.
The statement was signed by UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer Jennifer Kalule-Musamba.
UNEB administers national examinations at primary, secondary and post-secondary levels and has in recent years intensified measures to combat examination malpractice and related criminal schemes.
