How TikTok Trail Led Police to Missing Six-Year-Old Kidnap Victim

Security agencies have rescued a six-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped from Kawempe Division in Kampala and later traced to Wakiso District.

The child, identified as Mpirwe Tumwesigye Abraham, was recovered on Thursday, December 19, 2025, at about 9:30 a.m. from Busukuma in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District.

According to police, the boy was allegedly kidnapped on December 12, 2025, from Ddungu Zone in Kawempe Division by a man identified as Muchunguzi David, who was employed as a shamba boy by the child’s father, Dr. Tumwesigye Emmanuel.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect left home with the child at about 4:00 p.m. on the day of the incident and failed to return, prompting the family to alert authorities.

A case of kidnapping was reported at Universal Police Post, after which police and other security agencies launched a search operation. Investigators say analysis of videos posted by the suspect on TikTok provided critical leads that enabled them to trace the child’s location and secure his rescue.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Kawala Racheal said efforts are ongoing to arrest the suspect, who remains at large.

“The child will be handed over to his parents after undergoing a medical examination,” SP Kawala said, adding that further details will be communicated as investigations continue.

Police urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements involving children.
