Gen. Muhoozi Channels Allowances Into Barracks School Renovation

The Chief of Defence Forces and Special Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has donated UGX 300 million to support the construction of a new classroom block and the renovation of existing facilities at Bombo Barracks Nursery and Primary School.

The contribution, which also includes scholastic materials, was delivered to the school administration by the CDF’s Military Assistant, Col. Christopher Muwumba. The support fulfills Gen. Kainerugaba’s pledge to channel his official allowances into public interventions where there is a clear and pressing need.

Brig Gen Richard Karemire, Joint Staff Formal Education, Sports and Culture, described the donation as a timely boost to efforts aimed at improving the learning environment for children of soldiers.

“This money could have gone elsewhere, but the CDF committed it towards the education of our children,” Brig Gen Karemire said. He noted that Bombo Barracks Primary School holds a special place in the force, as most of its more than 800 learners are children of serving soldiers.

He urged engineers to ensure timely completion of the construction works and highlighted other UPDF education projects supported by the CDF, including the construction of Ruhengyere Army Primary School and the rehabilitation of Lira Army Primary School.

Col Muwumba said the support for Bombo Barracks Nursery and Primary School marks the beginning of wider initiatives targeting communities in need.

“This represents a shared investment in the future, in the young minds of our nation,” he said. “It is not just for the military fraternity but for the wider community we serve.”

He added that the initiative will extend to other causes in the coming months, complementing broader government programmes and the UPDF’s spirit of service. Enhancing education within barracks communities, he said, improves morale among soldiers and strengthens their capacity to serve the country effectively.

Teachers, parents, staff, and learners attended the handover ceremony, where officials urged the school community to safeguard the new facilities and maintain close cooperation with the administration.
