The incident occurred on November 27, 2025, at around 11:30 pm when Dr. Ndiwalana Mbuga Moses, 37, returned to his residence. According to police, the doctor had just parked his vehicle when the armed assailant emerged, held him at gunpoint, and ordered him to lie down. The attacker also subdued the family’s watchman, Byaruhanga Michael, along with the doctor’s wife and their maid, who had stepped out to welcome him home.
The gunman then forced all of them inside the house, where he allegedly robbed the family of Shs 1.65 million before abducting the couple’s six-year-old daughter, Nankya Kaira Mbuga.
The attacker fled the scene with the child, leaving the household traumatised.
Ssezibwa Region Police spokesperson SP Hellen Butoto confirmed the incident, describing it as a grave case of aggravated robbery and kidnapping. She said a joint search and rescue operation is underway.
“We are actively hunting for the assailant and working tirelessly to recover the victim safely,” SP Butoto said, adding that detectives have already begun gathering evidence and recording statements from the victims.
Police have urged residents of Naminya and the surrounding areas to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or movements that may assist the investigation.
The child remained missing by press time, and authorities say updates will be provided as the search progresses.
