By A man has died after becoming trapped while attempting to vandalise a high-voltage power transmission tower in Nakapinyi Village, Kasenge Parish, Nama Subcounty, Mukono District.
Police say the incident occurred during the nights of 18th and 19th November 2025, when a group of unknown individuals targeted a transmission tower linked to the Namawojolo power sub-station. The deceased, wearing a blue overall, was found hanging on the tower after becoming trapped in its structure.

The vandalism also caused damage to a second tower located about half a kilometre away. A case has been registered at Mukono Police Division, and a joint team of Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) and police officers has examined the scene, collected evidence, and taken statements from residents.
“Preliminary findings indicate the deceased was part of a group cutting the high-voltage tower structure and became fatally trapped during the collapse attempt,” said ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police.
Authorities are working to safely retrieve the body for post-mortem and proper identification. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive, identify the other suspects, and ensure they face prosecution.
Residents have been urged to report any information that could help police in tracking the remaining vandals. Further updates will be provided as inquiries progress.
