Nabadda’s recognition caps a stellar year in which she officiated high-profile international events including the Paris 2024 Olympics, the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, and the FIFA U‑17 Women’s World Cup.
She has also been praised for her sharp officiating at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), particularly in the semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa, as well as in the 2025 Uganda Cup final between Vipers and KCCA.
Nabadda first earned her FIFA badge in 2018. She broke ground at home as the youngest female centre referee in Uganda’s top-tier league, making her Premier League debut in 2016 at just 23 years old.
At CAF’s awards night, her win came alongside other regional successes including Omar Abdulkadir Artan from Somalia, who was named the men’s referee of the year.
The honour of the year adds to growing recognition of Uganda’s refereeing pedigree on the continental stage.
