NRM Leaders in Kawempe Pledge Peaceful Campaigns

National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders in Kawempe Division have pledged to ensure peaceful and orderly campaigns during the ongoing by-election activities, assuring the public that the area will remain calm and free of violence.

The commitment was made during a high-level mobilisation meeting held in Kampala, led by NRM Deputy Secretary General Rose Namayanja Nsereko and State House Comptroller Jane Barekye. The gathering brought together more than 30,000 party leaders from the five divisions of Kampala as part of President Yoweri Museveni’s intensified house-to-house campaign strategy.

Namayanja called on the leaders to put aside internal disagreements and work together for the party’s success and the wellbeing of the communities they represent.

“Let us not be divided by intrigue or jealousy,” she told the meeting. “Our goal is shared securing victory for the NRM and ensuring continued development for our people.”

She commended the ongoing mobilisation drive, noting that it stands out because it is anchored in strong grassroots participation and leadership.

Barekye encouraged leaders to support the President’s poverty-reduction efforts by actively spreading the message of household productivity and income generation.

“The President has been clear: every household must engage in productive work to eliminate poverty,” she said. “As NRM leaders, it is our duty to deliver this message door-to-door so that communities take full advantage of government programs.”

Namayanja also praised Kawempe leaders for reaffirming their commitment to maintaining peace throughout the electoral period, warning that the party will not tolerate disorder or violence.

“The NRM does not accept chaos of any kind,” she said. “Anyone who attempts to destabilise peace in our communities will face serious consequences.”

The meeting forms part of the party’s broader strategy to strengthen support in Kampala as the by-election campaigns continue.
