Three Remanded Over Violent Wakiso Land Eviction

The Wakiso Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded three men accused of staging a violent land invasion that left homes, farms, and property worth millions of shillings destroyed in Bukasa, Busiro County.

The accused  Ssejjombwe Ibrahim, Kyeyune Allan, and Musoke Joseph  face multiple charges including forcible entry, malicious damage to property, illegal eviction, destruction of crops, and theft. They will remain in custody until November 19, 2025.

According to the prosecution, between January and October 2025, the suspects, claiming to be bibanja holders, allegedly mobilized a gang of armed men wielding pangas and sticks and forcefully entered land comprised in Block 314, Plot 846, located at Bukasa in Wakiso District.

The land, owned by Dr. Paul Biriibwa and Peter Biriibwa, had been peacefully occupied by the complainants for over two decades, supported by a valid land title issued in 2001.

Investigators say the attackers graded the land and razed structures, including workers’ houses, animal shelters for cows, goats and pigs, a perimeter wall, water tanks, solar systems, and even a 40-foot container. They also uprooted coffee and banana plantations and cut down several trees.

Court documents indicate that the accused had no ownership documents or lawful claim to the property and carried out the eviction without a court order.

Officials familiar with the investigation described the attack as “deliberate and destructive,” adding that it reflects a growing wave of violent land takeovers in parts of Wakiso District.

The suspects have been remanded as police continue investigations into the illegal eviction and destruction.
