In Kampala Central Division, at least 40 suspects were rounded up from crime-prone areas linked to the theft of motor vehicle parts and other street crimes.
In Kira Municipality, covering Kitukutwe, Kiwologoma, Kungu, Buwate, and Najjera, seven suspects were arrested with suspected narcotics and a toy gun believed to have been used in previous robberies.
Meanwhile, in Kajjansi Division, 45 people were apprehended from Ngobe, Sseguku, and Kajjansi over their alleged involvement in early-morning robberies. A separate joint operation in Mukono led to the arrest of nine suspects from Kyugu and Kisenyi–Degeya, where police recovered suspected narcotic substances.
Owoyesigyire said all suspects are being held at various police stations pending screening and possible prosecution.
He emphasized that the operations are part of the force’s ongoing efforts to disrupt organized criminal activity and enhance public safety across the Kampala Metropolitan Area. “The police will continue with intelligence-led operations to dismantle criminal networks and ensure peace and security for all residents,” Owoyesigyire said.
