Police Seal Off Routes Ahead of Museveni and Bobi Wine’s Nomination Showdown

Parking arrangements have also been specified: the main venue will host only the candidates, while St Joseph’s Church of Uganda in Lweza has been reserved for other invited guests.

Several traffic diversions are set to be implemented if needed. Motorists in Kisubi may be rerouted to Nakawuka Road in order to ease congestion on Entebbe Highway. Traffic at the Kajjansi flyover may be diverted via Munyonyo Spur into the city centre. Those approaching via the Lweza Fuelex–Kigo junction will be directed to proceed to the Kajjansi flyover. Motorists near Kigo Rehabilitation Center junction will be affected after the nomination proceedings at the main venue. Vehicles entering Kigo Road via Furniture Junction will also be diverted to Munyonyo Spur/Kajjansi Express.

Residents affected by these diversions are to be issued stickers by security teams to allow them entry and exit of their homes. Traffic police will enforce the diversions and hold traffic at various junctions, with cut-off points set roughly 50 metres from key intersections.

All diversions and routing measures will begin from 5:00am on both days, September 23 and 24, and remain in effect until the nomination process concludes. Motorcycles will not be allowed beyond specified cut-off points. Violators of the guidelines will be subject to action under Ugandan traffic laws. The public has been urged to cooperate fully and ensure any vehicle stickers provided by security agencies are clearly displayed.
