A mid-afternoon fire outbreak on Monday left a trail of destruction at a workshop in Ntinda, Nakawa Division, reducing several vehicles and machinery to ashes.
According to police, the incident occurred at about 1:20 pm on September 8, 2025. The flames tore through the premises, burning five vehicles beyond repair, damaging two others, and destroying several machines.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said the Fire Prevention and Rescue Services teams, supported by engineers from the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL), swiftly responded to the scene and contained the blaze before it could spread further.
“The cause of the fire is still under investigation,” Owoyesigyire stated.
The incident comes as the city continues to grapple with recurring fire outbreaks in commercial areas, raising fresh concerns about fire safety measures in workshops and garages.
No injuries or fatalities were reported in the Ntinda fire.
