“Airhorns, commonly known as vuvuzelas, are among the prohibited items for safety and public order,” the statement read in part, urging fans to comply with the guidelines to avoid ejection or arrest.
The ban comes following a security review by the Uganda Police Force, the Local Organizing Committee, and CAF (referred to in the release as CAX), aimed at ensuring safety for all fans attending the tournament’s key fixtures.
Other items banned from the stadium include:
- Whistles
- Glass bottles and cans
- Large bags and suitcases
- Video cameras
- Hammers and tools
- Flasks
- Smoke canisters
- Fireworks
- Umbrellas
Police applauded fans for their discipline during earlier matches but warned that any breach of the rules will be met with firm action.
The public is urged to arrive early, cooperate with security personnel, and use only permitted items while cheering for their teams.
As Uganda prepares to take on Guinea, authorities want the focus to remain on football — not noise, chaos, or safety risks.
