Kampala Woman MP Shamim Malende Arrested Over Illegal Procession

Kampala Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Shamim Malende, is among six individuals arrested by police at Katwe Police Station on Monday for allegedly organising an illegal procession near Clock Tower.

The suspects, who include Lumisa Ivan, Kasiwa Aunty Robert, Mujib Paul, Sumakura Rogers, and Golova Godfrey-Bright, were intercepted while heading to the city centre. Police accuse them of causing public nuisance after allegedly mobilising an unauthorised march.

Two vehicles reportedly used in the procession a Toyota Hiace (UA093AH) and another Toyota Hiace (UBD850N)  were impounded and are currently held at Katwe Police Station.

Police confirmed that all six suspects remain in custody as investigations continue. Authorities are yet to determine whether they will be arraigned in court or released on bond.

The motive behind the procession has not been disclosed, and security officials say more details will be shared in due course.
