The Ministry’s delegation was led by Mrs. Catherine Nassuna, Undersecretary for Finance and Administration, representing the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Alfred Okot Okidi. Speaking during the handover, Mrs. Nassuna underlined the importance of using Public Service Day to reflect on the Ministry’s role in delivering services to Uganda’s most vulnerable citizens.
“We have come to make these children feel the environment, care, and compassion,” she said. “These items will go a long way in improving the children’s hygiene, sanitation, and general well-being.”
The donation is aligned with Uganda’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), and Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
Mrs. Nassuna was joined by several senior officials from the Ministry, including Mr. Godfrey Ezati, Assistant Commissioner for Human Resource; Mrs. Grace Atebat, Assistant Commissioner for Accounts; and Mrs. Jackie Sandrah Ongom, Principal Human Resource Officer.
In response, Mrs. Christine Nalwanga, Administrator of Sanyu Babies Home, expressed deep appreciation for the Ministry’s gesture. “Now that the Ministry of Water and Environment officials are here, our hope has been restored,” she said.
