Former Electoral Commission spokesperson Jotham Taremwa has been nominated to contest for the NRM parliamentary flag for Nyabushozi Constituency in Kiruhura District. Taremwa, who addressed his supporters shortly after his nomination, said he brings a unifying leadership style and a strong ability to lobby and connect communities to government programs.

He expressed gratitude to the NRM party and President Yoweri Museveni for promoting internal democracy. “This is an honour and I give credit to the party leadership,” he said.
Taremwa pledged to unify people across political and social lines, stressing the need for strong coordination between the grassroots and the central government. “Nyabushozi will find in me a leader who connects, who lobbies, and who ensures that government services reach the intended beneficiaries,” he said.
His campaign priorities include improving road infrastructure, boosting education standards, strengthening health facilities, and expanding access to water.
“Nyabushozi faces serious road challenges. Once elected, I will lobby to improve the network,” Taremwa stated. He added that it was unacceptable for parents to keep sending children outside the constituency for schooling and pledged to improve local institutions to reverse that trend.
He also criticized inefficiencies in health service delivery, particularly the mismatch between drug supply and demand. “It’s a supervision issue. Drugs can’t be expiring at National Medical Stores while our health centres remain empty,” he said.
Taremwa highlighted water scarcity as a major concern and promised to push for more boreholes and desilting of valley dams to improve both domestic and agricultural water supply.
He affirmed his support for the NRM manifesto and President Museveni’s 2026 campaign, saying he would help mobilize the youth and promote grassroots card registration for the party.
Nyabushozi is currently represented by Hon. Wilson Twinomugisha Kajwengye, also from the NRM.
