The cash distribution, part of a broader economic empowerment campaign running over the past three years, was delivered by senior State House officials led by Princess Pauline Nassolo, the Senior Presidential Advisor on the Elderly, and Ms. Flora Kabibi, the President’s Private Secretary.

Princess Nassolo explained that the President’s gesture is aimed at supporting citizens who are often left out of government economic programs such as Emyooga and the Parish Development Model (PDM).

“The President is aware that many of you haven’t benefited from government schemes. That’s why he decided to personally offer this support to help you grow your businesses,” said Nassolo.

She advised the beneficiaries to stay focused on poverty alleviation and avoid divisive politics, urging them to vote wisely in future elections.

“When time for elections comes, vote and return to work. Support leaders who support you. Mzee has done his part; now it’s your turn to reciprocate,” she added.

Speaking to the gathered vendors at Kansiina Primary School, Nassolo also called on parents to instill good values in their children to help address moral decay and rising crime.

Ms. Kabibi echoed the same sentiments, urging vendors to appreciate the President’s commitment to grassroots economic transformation.

“President Museveni believes in inclusive development. This financial support may seem small, but if well-utilized, it can grow your business. And he’s not done — more support is coming,” Kabibi said.

Luwero Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Mr. Richard Bwabye Ntulume encouraged vendors to use the funds wisely and pledged continued government support. He also urged residents to re-elect President Museveni in the 2026 elections for sustained development.

Grateful vendors responded with praise and appreciation for the President’s intervention.

Ms. Sofia Namusisi, chairperson of Kakooge Daily Market, commended Museveni for his continued support. “We are extremely happy. Some of us received PDM funds before, and now this again. Long live President Museveni,” she said, also requesting a modern market facility to replace the current dilapidated structure.

Ms. Betty Nazziwa, a 75-year-old vendor, thanked the President for thinking about the poor. “This money is a lifeline. I will use it to expand my business and care for my family,” she noted.

Joseph Kato Tebandeke, another vendor from Kakooge, said the funds would significantly boost his matooke business. Meanwhile, youth leader Muhammad Ssonko from the Chapati Operators Association said the President’s initiatives had allowed many young people to become self-reliant. “We support President Museveni and will vote for him again in 2026,” he added.

In Kiyenje Market, market chairperson Juliet Nababi and other vendors praised the President for supporting women entrepreneurs. “We’re mostly women here, and we are very grateful. We pray for his good health,” Nababi said.

Other beneficiaries, including Ms. Madinah Nabukenya and Mr. Livingstone Nsimbe, echoed calls for young people to stop idling and embrace enterprise using the support received.

At Balikyewunya Market, Mr. Mark Ssesazi applauded the President for sending financial aid for a second time. Ms. Asiat Nankinga said her previous support in 2023 had helped her grow her matooke business, and she was happy to receive further assistance this year.
