By The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Parliamentary Caucus is scheduled to meet at State House, Entebbe, on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 12 p.m. The announcement was made by Government Chief Whip and Caucus Chairperson Denis Hamson Obua, who urged all NRM MPs to adjust their schedules accordingly. An official circular is expected to follow ahead of the meeting.

The proposal comes in response to a Supreme Court decision delivered on January 31, 2025, which ruled the military trial of civilians unconstitutional.
The bill has ignited widespread debate. Supporters claim that military courts must retain limited jurisdiction over civilians to protect national security, while critics argue that the move could compromise civil rights and lead to abuses of justice.
