Sheema SACCO Treasurer Remanded Over PDM Funds Fraud

The Chief Magistrates Court in Sheema District has remanded John Bosco Kigundu, the treasurer of Kyeihara Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCO in Kasaana Sub-county, on charges of obtaining money by false pretense.

Kigundu was arraigned before the court on Tuesday morning following his arrest in a joint operation conducted by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

According to the prosecution, Kigundu took advantage of his role as treasurer to solicit millions of shillings from PDM beneficiaries within the SACCO. He allegedly misled community members by claiming that payments were a mandatory requirement to access funds under the government’s PDM program.

He was remanded until April 17, 2025, as investigations continue.
