Reverend John Mutenyo Wanda, a 78-year-old retired teacher, has made a remarkable gesture of appreciation by donating an acre of land to President Museveni.
The land, strategically located near the Presidential Skilling Hub in Lukhonge Sub-county, Mbale District, is set to facilitate the hub’s expansion. This hub has been instrumental in equipping local youth with practical skills, and Wanda’s donation is a testament to the positive impact it has had on the community.
During the handover event, Wanda praised President Museveni’s leadership, highlighting his commitment to national development and dedication to empowering the youth.
“My son and I have witnessed your power, love, commitment, and willingness to shoulder the problems of this country. As a token of our appreciation, we are giving you this piece of land,” he said.
Wanda commended President Museveni for establishing the skilling hub, which he described as “a visible and clear indicator of your purposeful leadership in Uganda.”
Wanda emphasized that the land donation was a heartfelt gesture from his family, expressing their gratitude to the president and other Ugandans contributing to such initiatives.
“Your Excellency, I am moved, along with my son, to donate this land connected to the hub to you,” he said.
The Presidential Skilling Hub is part of President Museveni’s broader efforts to promote vocational training and address youth unemployment. Similar hubs have been established in other regions, such as the Soroti Industrial Presidential Skilling Hub, which was launched recently. These initiatives aim to equip young Ugandans with the skills needed to thrive in the country’s evolving economy and contribute to its socio-economic transformation.
