A planned campaign rally by Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi in Mbarara City turned into a procession after security personnel attempted to block his entourage from accessing the venue.

The incident occurred along Mulemba Road in Kakoba, where Mafabi had addressed his supporters.

According to eyewitnesses, police and Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) personnel surrounded Mafabi’s vehicles, attempting to prevent him from proceeding to the next rally venue. This also led to a brief confrontation between supporters and security operatives.

However, the growing crowd of supporters refused to disperse. Mafabi took the opportunity to address them near Mbarara Central Market, leading to a peaceful procession through the streets of Mbarara City.

In his address to city dwellers, Mafabi pledged to work towards reducing poverty levels and ensuring that Ugandans benefit from their taxes. He emphasized the need for change and promised to deliver quality services to the people if elected president.

Mafabi is scheduled to campaign in Mbarara City, Mbarara District, Lyantonde, and Lwengo Districts. His campaign is gaining momentum, with supporters turning out in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the presidential candidate.
