Kagabo, who is currently serving his first term in Parliament, said he is ready to contest in the NRM party primaries and continue representing the people of Bukoto South under the ruling party’s banner. This move marks a significant political shift for the legislator who was elected in 2021 on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket.
Speaking after picking nomination forms, Kagabo said the exercise was smooth and efficient. “Today, I’ve gone through the entire process at the NRM Electoral Commission and successfully picked my nomination forms. I’m going to fill them out and return on the 16th,” he said.
He explained that his decision to join NRM was driven by the desire to better serve his constituents and fulfill his political goals. “I’ve been in NUP during this ending term, but I felt it may not be the party for me to fully achieve what I intend to for my people. I believe the NRM gives me a greater platform to deliver development and move forward,” Kagabo said.

Kagabo also acknowledged the stiff competition expected in the NRM primaries but expressed confidence in his performance and popularity. “It’s going to be a tough race, but I’ve served my people well. Most of what they needed, I’ve already delivered. I trust the voters and leave the rest to God,” he added.
The Bukoto South MP is among several former opposition members of parliament seeking the NRM flag ahead of the 2026 general elections.
