EC Extends Voter Register Display To 620 Delayed Polling Stations

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Uganda has announced the commencement of the National Voters Register display at 620 polling stations that previously experienced delays. This exercise, running from May 6 to May 27, 2025, ensures that all eligible voters have the mandated 21-day period to verify their registration details ahead of the 2025 general elections.
The affected polling stations, which constitute approximately 1.8% of the country’s 38,315 polling stations, include areas in Arua City, Buikwe, Buvuma, Fort Portal, Kampala, Kasanda, Kikuube, Kiryandongo, Kitagwenda, Masaka City, Mbarara City, Mityana, Mukono, Mpigi, and Wakiso districts.

EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama emphasized the importance of this exercise, stating that it allows voters to confirm the accuracy of their details, including names and photographs, and to report any anomalies such as deceased individuals, underage voters, or multiple registrations.

The display exercise is a critical component of Uganda’s electoral process, providing an opportunity for citizens to ensure the integrity of the voters’ register. The EC has deployed staff to all polling stations, operating daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., including weekends and public holidays, to assist voters during this period.

Following the display period, from May 16 to May 26, 2025, the Commission will exhibit lists of individuals recommended for inclusion or deletion from the register, based on objections raised during the display.
The EC urges all eligible voters to participate actively in this process to uphold the credibility and transparency of Uganda’s electoral system.
