By The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced changes to the official dates for the display of the National Voters’ Register ahead of the 2025/2026 General Elections, pushing the start of the exercise from April 17 to April 25, 2025.
In a press release issued on April 14, 2025, the EC stated that the display, which was initially set to run until May 8, will now conclude on May 15, 2025. This adjustment also applies to the display of the Voters Registers for Special Interest Groups (SIGs), including Youths, Persons with Disabilities, and Older Persons.

According to Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, the decision is part of broader efforts to ensure thorough voter verification and transparency in the lead-up to the highly anticipated elections.
“The Electoral Commission is mandated to compile, maintain, revise, and update the National Voters Register, and further display the compiled and updated register in accordance with Section 26 of the Electoral Commission Act,” the statement read.
The display for SIGs, originally slated for April 17 to April 28, will now run from April 25 to May 8, 2025.
In addition, the period for receiving recommendations on inclusion or deletion of names from the Voters Register by the respective Parish Tribunals will be held from Friday, May 16 to Monday, May 26, 2025, at all parishes nationwide.
The Commission urged all stakeholders in the electoral process to participate in the upcoming display exercise and adhere to the guidelines that will be provided. The process is a critical phase in ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the final Voters Register.
